We don’t need to attack as much as some are suggesting what with there being no away goal rule.
Keep it tight at the back and get a goal from a set-piece and it’s all square. Doesn’t matter if we score in the 90th minute as long as we haven’t conceded before that.
Would be wrong to go gung-ho as though we’re 3-0 down and chasing it.

They have to attack as the home side.
They’ll be looking to kill the game off. There will be plenty of opportunities for us to break on them.
In a way, it might turn out to be a blessing in disguise going into the game behind, as they’ll not know whether to stick or twist.

There home form is absolutely shocking . 16 points out of a possible 48 . That's every bit as bad as us in the 1st 4 season's at the athletics stadium .

Hopefully we have learnt a lot from this 1st leg (as we have done in the previous rounds) and will come out 2nd leg better prepared on how to use the ball & get more clinical in front of goal. I thought our crosses weren't accurate enough and we looked nervous 1st half. Maybe the occasion got to us?
Having said that goals change games & Bowen really should have had 2 yesterday whilst they capitalized very well on their chances. It would be a very different conversation had we taken our chances. Second game could be very different but we have to generate a ruthless streak now. Too many games this year we have come away ruing missed chances.
Soucek is struggling this year. Antonio has been off but he has an impact & did get a goal which was great. I was disappointed with Johnson who had a number of opportunities to cross the ball but never found a target. Too erratic. Frankfurt on the other hand did find each other very effectively. I get the impression quite a few WH underestimated them because of their league position.
Somehow I have a feeling we'll get a 2-1 over there as we tend to learn from these 1st legs. It's annoying reading in media that we have a mountain to climb etc. This is doable

small margins cost us last night.
what worried me most was how many times they got out with one simple pass into a forward player and took our entire midfield out of the game.
score first next week and everything changes.

Said to me mate last night they set up perfectly for an away team... so not a surprise they have turned over Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Real Betis and co on their travels... their away form is miles better than their home form...

Lertie - It was beyond ridiculous. How do you prepare the whole week, get pumped up for a massive game in the changing room and the tunnel then concede after 53 seconds? Absolute fucking clowns. Mark my words, last night is going to come back and haunt us.

Every time I watch the first goal it looks worse, the opening minutes of a two leg semi final, Christ truly shocking.

We’re a better side than them, they are poorer than Sevilla who we beat. If we up our game then we’ll beat them, even last night and being under par, we would still have won if it wasn’t for the post/crossbar. Turn up in Frankfurt and we’ll get through

Let's face it. It was a shockingly poor performance against shit opposition. No creativity, no intensity and no idea.
Frankfurt are 9th (out of 18) in a shit league. They are nothing, but they managed to do a number on us.
Very frustrating.

Too negative last night. Too many times the balls knocked forward to the midfielders, who knock it straight back to the defender?? Why? No one seemed to have the confidence to run at them (Bowen a side). Antonio is so frustrating. How his nicking a living ill never know??
